We have a new “biggest hockey arena in the world”.
Take a seat, Bell Centre!
According to Czech hockey insider Jan Hrabal, Dynamo Paradubice of the Czech Extraliga have announced the construction of a new arena with a capacity of 22,300 making it the largest arena in the world.
From Hrabal (in Czech):
Now, the building is, of course, not yet constructed but it projects to be the largest hockey arena in the world once completed.
Currently there's some debate as to which arena is the largest with the Montreal Canadiens' Bell Centre and SKA Saint Petersburg's SKA Arena vying for the title. Technically SKA Arena is larger with a 21,542 seat capacity but in its current configuration its seating is closer to a round 21,000 seats. The Bell Centre meanwhile is 21,105 seats... and has sold out every game since 2004.
