Wayne Simmonds goes viral for major gesture

By now, you've surely heard the news of the Boston Bruins finding themselves embroiled in controversy earlier this monthwhen they made the bizarre call to ink former Arizona Coyotes draft pick Mitchell Miller to a contract, despite his having plead guilty in an Ohio juvenile court in 2016 for shocking racial abuse of a developmentally disabled Black classmate by the name of Isaiah Meyer-Crothers. 

Despite the Bruins having decided to cut ties with Miller following considerable and understandable backlash, it still had a profound effect on Meyer-Crothers and his family. But one member of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization has stepped up big time.

Wayne Simmonds spent the evening with Meyer-Crothers, helping him celebrate his 21st birthday. What's more, Meyers-Crothers will be a guest of Simmonds tonight at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena as the Maple Leafs take on the Red Wings. 

Certainly a classy move from Simmonds!
