The Toronto Maple Leafs are hosting the Winnipeg Jets at Scotiabank Arena in downtown Toronto this evening, and after a scoreless 1st period, the Jets are down one very key member of their team.
Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey was hurt when he blocked a shot from Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies, and it appeared as though he took the shot directly in the groin:
Whether or not Morrissey returns to the lineup for the Jets tonight remains to be seen.
UPDATE: The Jets have confirmed the grim news that Morrissey's night is in fact over:
Morrissey has scored seven goals with 22 assists along with an impressive +22 rating in 45 games played for the Jets this season.
