Every once in a while, you need a huge play from your defensemen. For Boston Bruins blue liner Charlie McAvoy, he came through in a huge way tonight for his team against the Buffalo Sabres.
Buffalo's Dylan Cozens took a shot from the top of the face-off circle that goaltender Jeremy Swayman stopped, but deflected up in the air and was heading for the empty net behind him. That's when McAvoy donned his Superman cape and saved the day:
And very deservingly so, Swayman showed a little love to McAvoy afterward during a break in the action:
