Utah HC scores their first goal ever... in their own net!

The Utah Hockey Club has scored their very first goal... and they have scored it on themselves!

This is probably not the way fans in Utah or the Utah Hockey Club wanted to kick things off as the National Hockey League's newest franchise.

On Sunday night, Utah HC unofficially kicked off their foray into the NHL with their first ever preseason game and it was a game against the St. Louis Blues. Unfortunately for Utah the game hasn't gone their way so far and that became even more true after a rather embarrassing first goal for the franchise.

Now this one won't officially count in the record books but there's no doubt that hockey fans will remember this for a very long time, because Utah's first ever goal was actually scored on themselves.

In a horrible fluke play, the Utah hockey Club scored its first ever goal into their own empty net, giving the St. Louis Blues a 2 goal lead. To make matters worse, the Blues got in on the fun, mercilessly trolling the NHL's newest team by congratulating them on their first goal on social media.

As if mocking their opponents once wasn't enough, the Blues even created an entire new graphic to celebrate the rather unfortunate goal.

Something tells me the Utah Hockey Club won't be living this one down any time soon, as rival fans will be sure to bring it up every chance they get.
