Ugly reports regarding Jeremy Swayman contract talks.

Things may not be going well behind the scenes between Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins.

The behind the scenes negotiations between Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman and his team may not be going as smoothly as fans in Boston would like to hear.

This week, ugly rumors began to filter out to the public about a low-ball offer that the Bruins had made to Swayman with former National Hockey League player Ryan Whitney being the man to break the news on the Spittin Chiclets podcast.

"I have a pretty reliable source that told me, current Swayman offer from the Bruins: 4 x $6.2 million," said Whitney.

Whitney also indicated that Swayman was looking for a much bigger contract than what the Bruins were offering, one closer to an 8 year deal valued at around $9.5 million per season which works out to a total of $76 million.

"Their ask is the McAvoy contract," said Whitney of Swayman's camp.

Even more disturbing than the offer though was the fact that Whitney indicated the Bruins have cut off all communication with Swayman.

"The Bruins have not contacted or returned Swayman's call in 3 weeks," said Whitney.

It's one thing when the report is coming from a single individual but it becomes another matter entirely when it is corroborated by one of the National Hockey League's top insiders.

"Nobody has disputed that to me, so I think he's right," said Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast.

Additionally, it sounds like Swayman turned down an 8 year contract from the Bruins that came in at a number considerably lower than what Swayman is reportedly asking for.

"I do believe at some point there was an 8 year deal on the table but it was in the sixes," revealed Friedman. "I don't think at any point here anyone has ever been close."
