Two NHL teams forced to cancel game due to safety concerns.

A pair of NHL teams have been forced to abandon a planned game over safety concerns for fans and players.

It is official, the game has been canceled.

On Sunday afternoon the Nashville Predators officially announced what many of us have been anticipating, the cancelation of Monday night's preseason game between the aforementioned Predators and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The game, which was originally scheduled to take place at 7pm EST, has simply been cancelled with no announcement at this time about the game possibly being rescheduled.

This is only a preseason game and the regular season is right around the corner, so it simply may not be possible to reschedule the preseason game at a later time.

The cancelation of the game as I mentioned comes as no surprise to many and is entirely due to the dangerous weather situation that is developing in and around the Tampa Bay area. The concerns stem from Hurricane Milton which is expected to travel through the state of Florida on its projected trajectory that will take it out into the Atlantic Ocean.

We have all seen the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, a horrific weather storm that has claimed the lives of far too many Americans and left thousands of others devastated and in desperate need of aid and as a result this seems like the best course of action the Predators, Lightning and the National Hockey League itself could take in this unfortunate situation.

That of course will do little to diminish the disappointment of fans who had purchased tickets to the game and were looking forward to seeing some of their favorite players, but there's no question that the health of both the fans and the players should be viewed as the most important thing in a situation such as this one.

If you are in the affected area please do your best to stay safe or even evacuate where necessary.
