Two NHL teams attempting to trade for Elias Pettersson.
NHL insider reveals two NHL teams that are making a strong push to acquire the Vancouver Canucks star forward.
The Vancouver Canucks have found themselves the topic of a great deal of midseason trade speculation and much to the dismay of their fan base, that trade speculation surrounds two of the team's top forwards in JT Miller and Elias Pettersson.
Recently, National Hockey League insider Frank Seravalli shared some insight on the situation in Vancouver and revealed the names of two teams that he believes are currently attempting to acquire Pettersson from the Canucks. Interestingly, both teams are in dramatically different situations this season with the Buffalo Sabres having another terrible season while the Carolina Hurricanes appear poised to once again be a playoff contender.
"I think there's a lot more teams than [Buffalo]," said Seravalli. "I'd keep an eye on Carolina. They tried to acquire Pettersson before he ended up re-signing."
To be fair Seravalli isn't suggesting that these are the only two teams currently in the mix, in fact he went out of his way to suggest that the Buffalo Sabres aren't the only team outside the playoff picture that is likely to have interest in acquiring Pettersson.
"I'd keep an eye on a few other teams, even some teams that aren't currently in the playoff picture," admitted the insider.
There has been plenty of talk about a trade involving Pettersson and the Chicago Blackhawks who would certainly fit that bill, which makes sense given that their young star forward Connor Bedard is a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, but I just don't see a world in which that happens.
If it did though it would truly be a blockbuster trade in the modern era of the NHL.
