Travis Green shares terrible and surprising update on Shane Pinto.

The head coach of the Ottawa Senators had some very bad and unexpected news to share on Sunday.

This seems to have been a bit of news that caught most by surprise.

On Sunday afternoon, Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green announced that his team would be without the services of forward Shane Pinto for quite some time. The news does not appear to be good at all, with the Senators describing this as a "week to week" type of situation for Pinto.

Interestingly enough the Senators chose not to elaborate on what type of injury Pinto has suffered nor did they share any news regarding how Pinto came to be injured in the first place.

This is rather unfortunate news for Pinto who was having a solid start to the season with a goal and a pair of assists for 3 points over his first 6 games of the regular season. It is even more unfortunate when you consider the fact that Pinto has already had to miss important time in his development process due to a major suspension related to sports betting he received from the NHL almost exactly one year ago. Pinto was suspended by the NHL on the 26th of October last year and the major injury news this year comes only a day later.

Pinto looked excellent when he returned from that suspension, putting up 27 points (9 goals and 18 assists,) in just 41 games and no doubt fans were looking forward to seeing what he could do over a full season this time around.

I will continue to provide more details on this story if any become available, but at the time of this writing the Senators are being extremely tight lipped about this situation.
