The Philadelphia Flyers made the decision to acquire controversial defenseman Tony DeAngelo from the Carolina Hurricanes this offseason and subsequently sign him to a two year, $10 million deal. Of course, we were all wondering exactly how that dynamic would work when combined with fiery bench boss John Tortorella, who is also in his first season in the City of Brotherly Love.
However, DeAngelo has disappeared from the Flyers roster, as he was placed on non-roster due to a personal tragedy. He recently posted on his social media account about the death of a grandparent:
In the meantime, the Flyers have called up defenseman Olle Lycksell in DeAngelo's place.
DeAngelo has tallied four goals and 14 points in 26 games so far this season.
