Trade talk heating up around Tyler Motte.

Motte could soon be moved.

The National Hockey League's trade deadline is still a little less than 2 weeks away but there's definitely been a growing sense this season that team's aren't willing to wait until the deadline to make their bigs moves. We've already seen significant splashes in the trade market over the last 2 weeks from the New York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as some smaller moves earlier in the calendar year already.

It sounds like we may soon be hearing about another one of these more minor moves with National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealing on Sunday morning that veteran winger Tyler Motte is once again on the trading block.

Motte is a versatile veteran of over 300 NHL games and is currently playing as a member of the Ottawa Senators, a team that has no hope of being a playoff contender this season. It stands to reason that Motte would be open to the possibility of being traded to a contender and it sounds like, at least according to Friedman, that Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion may already be fielding phone calls on this very topic.

No word from Friedman on where Motte might be going, but given that his former team in the New York Rangers have already shown they are going for it this season, they could be among the potential candidates with interest in the veteran winger.

Update: Motte has been scratched for trade related reasons.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
