TNT uses hilarious “algorithm” to predict faceoff results
This is priceless! So much for analytics!
HockeyFeed
In case you missed it last night, the NHL's two newest teams battled it out on TNT with the Vegas Golden Knights besting the Seattle Kraken 3-0 in an easy victory.
At one point during the broadcast the TNT play by play team revealed an absolutely hilarious stat said the NHL has used advanced technology to develop an algorithm that can predict the probability of one player winning a faceoff over another player. The algorithm uses real time data and over ten years of historical data to come up with a percentage probability for the draws. And what are the odds that that advanced algorithm spit out? 50/50 odds...
Wait... so you're telling me that a faceoff is a 50/50 proposition?!?!?! This is an Earth shattering discovery! Please give out a handsome raise to all of the data nerds who managed to compile this for us...
