Things get worse for Jordan Binnington

On Thursday, St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington was suspended two games for roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct against the Minnesota Wild when he simply lost it and attempted to fight forward Ryan Hartman and then beloved goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

While Hartman did clip Binnington on the way past him after the goal, it in no way justify the enrage goalie’s actions.

Especially since it seems to be recurring for Binnington who needed to be punished and hopefully, learn his lesson.

However, his coach Craig Berube had already called him out, after a game against Pittsburgh in December in which Binnington went after Penguins forward Jason Zucker, shoving Zucker’s head into the boards with his glove.

“It’s got to stop,” Berube told reporters at the time in regard to Binnington’s actions. “It doesn’t help anything. Just play goal, stop the puck.”

That’s the thing. Binnington isn’t stopping that many pucks and Adam Proteau of the Hockey News has exposed his terrible numbers, which won’t help the netminder get his coach’s trust back until the end of the season.

“Indeed, Binnington’s individual numbers this season – including a 3.39 goals-against average and .892 save percentage – are certainly not what you’d expect out of a goalie with a $6-million cap hit like Binnington’s. While the NHL could use more players with some on-their-sleeves passion, Binnington is just looking like a one-man circus.”

It is clear that if Binnington wants things to improve, he needs to focus on what’s happening in his crease and show the restraint we basically in the rest of all goalies in the NHL…

And maybe he needs to undergo anger management class…
