The case against 4 current and 1 former National Hockey League players is expected to take some big steps on Monday with London, Ontario police scheduling a press conference for later today.

Although we will undoubtedly learn a great deal more about this case at that time, prior to the conference on Monday there was a meeting held between the judge overseeing the case and the lawyers representing the 5 defendants. The defendants in this case are NHL players Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, Michael McLeod and Callan Foote as well as former NHL player Alex Formenton.

According to TSN's Rick Westhead, that brief 15 minute meeting has resulted in 3 publication bans as it pertains to this case with the name of the alleged victim and the name of two witnesses being subject to the bans.

Those of you hoping for a quick resolution in this case aren't likely to get it however with the typically slow moving legal process no different in this case. According to Westhead the next hearing between the parties is set for April 30th, several months away, likely in an effort to give the defense attorney's enough time to go over all of the evidence in this case. That evidence is expected to be sent out later today according to the crown's prosecuting attorney.

Stay tuned for more details.
