Steve Dangle melts down after Maple Leafs' embarrassing loss to the Penguins.

Dangle loses it.

If you're a distraught fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the good news is you're not alone.

On Saturday night, following an embarrassing loss at the hands of a severely depleted Pittsburgh Penguins lineup, Toronto Maple Leafs analyst Steve Dangle decided to have himself something of a bit of a vent. Dangle, who is unapologetically a diehard Maple Leafs fan, was disgusted by the loss and proceeded to go on a 10 minute rant about the state of his favorite team.

Dangle began by drawing attention to the fact that the Leafs lost by a score of 7 - 1 multiple times, an embarrassing scoreline in any context, but then went on to add the all important context that made this particular loss so humiliating. The Penguins were barely the Penguins on Saturday night, at least in terms of the lineup that they put out on the ice. No disrespect to the players who stepped in for the Penguins, but the team was without captain Sidney Crosby, star forward Evgeni Malkin, forward Bryan Rust, forward Jeff Carter, and their top defenseman in Kris Letang.

Dangle then went on to highlight some of the players that had proved too much for the Maple Leafs to hande on Saturday night, including former Maple Leaf Evan Rodrigues who served as the Penguins first line center on the evening. Rodrigues wasn't the only player who stood out for Dangle however, with the disgruntled Leafs fan also pointing out that forward Drew O'Connor had tripled his career goal total in the National Hockey League by picking up a pair of goals against the Maple Leafs.

Dangle wasn't just venting however, he also spoke on behalf of what is no doubt a large group of frustrated fans in Toronto. Dangle refused to give the Maple Leafs the benefit of the doubt in spite of the fact that they are only 6 games into their regular season thus far, citing the long history of failure from this group instead.

He went on to argue that two rough playoff series losses at the hands of the Boston Bruins, followed by an equally tough playoff series loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, followed by an embarrassing playoff collapse against the Montreal Canadiens after leading the division in the regular season and leading the series 3 - 1,  has wiped away any benefit of the doubt he would have been willing to give this team.

In fact Dangle believes that no Maple Leafs fan should have to justify being down on this team at this point, and even went so far as to call the question "insulting" at this point. It seems obvious that Dangle believes the team is in need of a significant overhaul, but he also lamented the fact that the team is in a poor position to do so moving forward.

I haven't even come close to covering everything that Dangle goes off on in this video, even including the wave from Penguins fans, so I highly recommend you check out his epic post game rant in the video below.
