The current State of Emergency in the state of New York thanks to widespread flooding has forced the postponement of tonight's scheduled exhibition contest between the Rangers and Islanders at UBS Arena. The game will be made up tomorrow night instead at the same venue.

Both New York City Mayor Eric Adams along with New York Gov. Kathy Hochul have declared a State of Emergency after torrential rains caused flash floods as well as subway/road closures.

"I want to say to all New Yorkers, this is time for heightened alertness and extreme caution," Adams said during a news conference on Friday. "If you are at home, stay home. If you are at work or school, shelter in place for now."

"I am declaring a State of Emergency across New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley due to the extreme rainfall we’re seeing throughout the region," Hochul said. "Please take steps to stay safe and remember to never attempt to travel on flooded roads."

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and some parts of New Jersey through Friday evening.
