Sidney Crosby's incredible in-moment reaction to Nedeljkovic's goalie goal.
A closer look at the incredible in the moment reaction from Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.
You have to be kind of special to steal the spotlight in a moment where your teammate makes National Hockey League history in multiple different ways, and Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is definitely special.
By now everyone reading this will have seen, or at least heard of, Alex Nedeljkovic's incredible goalie goal against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night but there may be just as many people talking about how one of his teammates reacted to that goal as there are people talking about the goal itself.
A genuine moment of hockey joy is what the goal was for Nedeljkovic and of course that is to be expected, but it was the joy captured on the face of the aforementioned Sidney Crosby that has everyone talking this morning. Crosby's reaction in the moment was captured by some brilliant camera work on the part of at least one camera operator who captured the puck going the full length of the ice.
As it became clear that the puck was going to cross the goal line, Crosby went from having a pretty normal posture on the ice to reacting like a little kid in mere seconds. Crosby can be seen looking back at his teammate with a look that is half amusement and half disbelief before turning his head back to the puck and seeing it go in. Crosby immediately begins to celebrate by slapping his stick against the ice and seems to almost double over with laughter in the moment.
It is a moment that shows just how much Crosby genuinely loves the game of hockey and genuinely loves the men he battles alongside with on a night to night basis, and thankfully it is a moment that we get to share thanks to some great camera work from a camera operator that deserves a little shout out for his performance here.
