It was only a matter of time before Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby hit this major career milestone, but it is hard to imagine a better place and time for him to have done so than on Saturday night in front of his faithful fans in Pittsburgh and with his family in attendance.

Sidney Crosby is now only the 21st player in the entire history of the National Hockey League to have hit the 600 goal milestone, doing so on Saturday night with a goal against the Utah Hockey Club on the Penguins' home ice at PPG Paints Arena.

Crosby is currently only the second active player to have achieved the incredible milestone with long time rival Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals the only other active player with at least 600 career goals in the NHL.

This one will likely go down as one of the easier goals of Crosby's career as he got a lot of help from his teammates on this one, with Erik Karlsson doing a significant portion of the heavy lifting on his own. Karlsson pounced on a loose puck in the offensive zone and did a great job of faking a shot, fooling the Utah defense as well as Utah goaltender Karel Vejmelka who all bit on the shot. Karlsson never intended to fire off the shot though, instead making a great pass to a wide open Crosby at the side of the net.

That left Crosby with a wide open net in front of him and, as you would expect, the Penguins captain made no mistake and buried it for his 600th career goal.

Crosby has never been one to chase or boast about individual accolades but you could tell that this one meant a great deal to him. The emotion came pouring out of Crosby after he found the back of the net, yelling and pumping his fists at his sides as he reveled in a moment that will likely go down in Penguins history.
