All eyes are on captain Sidney Crosby, who turns 37 years old today, as the expectation is that he will sign a contract extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins as part of his celebrations.

In the meantime, Crosby has been trending all day long and one of the posts revealed that the superstar left a cryptic message when he filled up his vehicle at a gas station in Nova Scotia recently.

During his offseason, Crosby spends time with his family back home in Nova Scotia and early this week, he recently made an appearance at a gas station in a small town and employee Sheena Bennett in the small town of Wallace near the Fox Harb’r Resort was informed how she had just served and then realized Crosby had left his own calling card with the transaction. While the clerk didn’t recognize him, the total price on his fill-up was $87.87, Crosby saying “Sid was here.”

You can doubt that: I mean the nod to his beloved number 87, his birth year, his jersey number, a constant in his career along with the the annual cap hit on a 12-year deal he signed with Pittsburgh back in 2012.

Reports have hinted, on top of that all, that Crosby will sign his extension today on his 37th birthday, to keep up with all of the superstitions.

Crosby’s current deal will expire at the end of the 2024-25 season, and fans are impatiently waiting for the captain to re-sign with the Penguins on a new contract.

Stay tuned…
