Over the weekend there was an incident involving Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, one in which he appeared to lose his coolafter a goal scored by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner.

That goal would come just 40 seconds into a game contested between the Penguins and the Maple Leafs on Saturday night, and it was largely the result of an error on the part of the Penguins, one that came in the form of a bad line change. That error clearly got under the skin of the Penguins captain, who proceeded to kick the boards in front of the Penguins' bench repeatedly.

Given that this was a relatively uncharacteristic outburst on the part of the Penguins captain it immediately drew a great deal of attention, and that was amplified by the fact that Crosby would leave the bench following his outburst and would head back to the locker room.

On Monday, Crosby was asked about the now infamous incident and he revealed that his retreat to the locker room had been caused by a problem related to his skate. When he was asked whether or not that issue was related to what you see on the video above, Crosby responded with the following... and a big grin on his face.

"No. I don't know what you're talking about there," said the Penguins captain.

According to Crosby the problem occurred prior to him kicking the bench, which could explain why he was so frustrated in the first place.
