Forward Zachary L’Heureux of the Halifax Mooseheads in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has officially been suspended indefinitely for an incident that occurred late on Wednesday night following a game against the Gatineau Olympiques.

And now, video has emerged of the incident, courtesy of journalist Yanick St. Denis. The footage shows L’Heureux reaching his stick through the glass partitions and hitting fans with it multiple times before exiting the ice.

St. Denis later posted on Twitter that it wasn't difficult to obtain the footage, and that league officials soon got their hands on the video.

It wasn't long before the major suspension was levied:

“After receiving new video evidence, the QMJHL Director of Player Safety, Éric Chouinard, has suspended Halifax Mooseheads forward Zachary L’Heureux indefinitely for incidents that occurred after Wednesday’s game in Gatineau," the league announced Friday afternoon. "The disciplinary committee will review the evidence over the weekend and announce their decision at a later date.”

The league had originally stated that without video evidence, they were unable to dole out any kind of punishment.

"In the absence of video evidence and impartial witnesses, the QMJHL will not impose disciplinary sanctions following yesterday's game between the Gatineau Olympiques and the Halifax Mooseheads", a statement from the league's PR manager Maxime Blouin states.

L’Heureux is certainly no stranger to having been forced to sit out of games, with eight past suspensions in his career. Selected 27th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators, L’Heureux has scored a total of 18 goals and 37 points in 24 games played this season with Halifax.

Needless to say, this is a major black eye on his career.
