Ryan Reaves gets brutally shot down by Maple Leafs after practice!
It turned ugly quick on practice day on Tuesday and details on what happened have emerged:
On practice day on Tuesday, forward Ryan Reaves wanted to talk about the five-game suspension he received from the NHL for his on Edmonton Oilers’ Darnell Nurse. He was eager to do it until the Toronto Maple Leafs shut it down and did not allow him to meet with media.
On Sunday, Reaves was suspended five games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety a day after Reaves’ collision with Nurse left the blue liner bloodied and out of action for the remainder of Saturday’s contest. This is Reaves’ fourth suspension of his career, with the most recent coming in 2021, and he will forfeit $35,156.25 in salary as a result of the suspension.
On Tuesday, reporters headed towards Reaves to question him about the suspension and the veteran was about to answer when the Maple Leafs’ media relations team shut it down, saying he’s not speaking today.
It reminded a lot of fans and pundits about the time, last season in January, when Reaves wanted to speak about his status in the lineup when he was on long-term injured reserve due to a knee injury. He eventually revealed that he had been ready to return to the Maple Leafs’ lineup for several weeks, but was not allowed to speak with media about it.
Reaves is a veteran of 893 NHL games, dating back to the 2010-11 season when he played for the St. Louis Blues. In 16 games this season with the Leafs, he has recorded just one assist, while averaging 7:51 minutes of play on the fourth line. He will be eligible to return on Dec. 4 against the Nashville Predators.
