Russian player Sergeyev found guilty of spying!
He'll now face 3 years in prison!
Russian hockey player Maxim Sergeyev has plead guilty to charges of international spying by Polish police.
The 21 year old was arrested by Polish police last year and was awaiting trial in country. He was sentenced to three years in prison today after pleading guilty.
The native of Reutov, Russia was playing for the second division of Poland's junior league for OKS Zagliebie Sosnowiec when he was recruited by Russian officials on the messaging app Telegram. It's believed that he was paid in crypto currency for posting political messages on social media. He was then accused of spying on a Polish military equipment factory. When he was arrested by police he was found to have documents produced by Russian military organization Wagner Group on his personal laptop.
