Rumor: Maxime Comtois to sign PTO with Stanley Cup contender.
Maxime Comtois is reportedly closing in on a professional tryout offer with one of the NHL's top teams.
It's that time of year.
We are now just a few short weeks away from the start of training camps in the National Hockey League (Woo Hoo!) and that means that many of the unsigned free agents who were hoping to land an NHL contract will have to settle for a professional tryout offer.
Tryout offers come with no guarantees of a contract but they are a great way to show your stuff during training camp and the exhibition games that follow, something that can often lead to that all important NHL contract.
The latest on this front comes to us courtesy of BPM Sports' Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, a French language radio station in Quebec that frequently features both former and current NHL players. According to Beaudoin, it sounds like Quebec native Maxime Comtois is closing in on a professional tryout offer with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Beaudoin was sure to stress that nothing has officially been agreed to as of yet, and for that reason I am classifying this one as just a rumor for the time being. That being said Beaudoin reports that things are headed in that direction, so stay tuned for more details on this developing story.
