Rumor: John Gibson to the Red Wings?!?
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman with a bomb!
We've had two goalie trades this week, could we have a third?
Veteran goaltenders Jacob Markstrom and Darcy Kuemper were each traded in separate deals and there are reports that Linus Ullmark could also be on the move. But today, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that he believes that Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson could also be on the move and he even names the Detroit Red Wings as a potential destination for the longtime Ducks netminder.
From Friedman on today's episode of The Jeff Marek Show:
"I think there are some teams looking into Gibson. I think that (New) Jersey did, but obviously that's off the table now. I don't know if that's a fit in Ottawa. Another team... I suspect that Detroit is in this goalie market to some degree."
- Elliotte Friedman
The Red Wings are oh so close to getting back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but goaltending has been their downfall. No doubt that acquiring a solid veteran goaltender like Gibson would help bolster their entire lineup.
