Rumor: Bruins to replace Lucic on the trade market.

The Boston Bruins have lost the services of veteran forward Milan Lucic for the foreseeable future, and now we are starting to hear the very first rumblings regarding a potential replacement.

Although he has not confirmed that the Bruins are actively seeking to make this deal, Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy is reporting that there is a growing sense that the Bruins could look to Minnesota Wild enforcer Pat Maroon as a replacement for Lucic. Furthermore, Murphy reported comments from an unnamed NHL executive who believes that Maroon may be on the outs with recently appointed Wild head coach John Hynes.

“I’m starting to hear his name out there,” saids the source as per Murphy. “He doesn’t fit in with [John] Hynes’ up-tempo style and hasn’t brought everything they wanted when they traded for him.”

Maroon not only would serve as a suitable replacement for a player like Lucic, but he would also bring some added toughness to the Bruins lineup. Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has been vocal about his team's lack of toughness as of late and bringing in a bruiser like Maroon could certainly alleviate those concerns.

To make matters even more idyllic for the Bruins, Murphy believes that the Bruins could acquire Maroon for the low cost of a 7th round draft selection, making such a move a relatively low risk option for the Bruins.

Maroon has appeared in 26 games for the Wild this season and has 3 goals and 8 assists for a total of 11 points, boasting a plus minus rating of 0 on the season.
