This just in, the Anaheim Ducks have claimed forward Ross Johnston off of waivers from the New York Islanders.
Like TSN insider Chris Johnston mentions above, Johnston has three years remaining on a deal that pays him $1.1 million per season. That's a big commitment for a player who rarely has any real on-ice impact. Johnston played just 16 games for the Islanders last season, putting up two assists and 37 penalty minutes. He has never played more than 32 games in a single NHL season.
