Ron MacLean starts trending for terrible dad joke on live TV

When you see Ron MacLean’s name trending on social media, you automatically get the feeling that he said something stupid on the panel of Hockey Night during the broadcast of a game.

That’s what happened during the intermission of Game 3 of the series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Leafs defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin, had a great game, especially when he fed the puck to Colin Blackwell in the first period to give Toronto a 2-0 lead into the game. The pass was just so smooth and quite honestly jaw-dropping.

MacLean felt the need to make a joke, one that could be called a dad joke, but fans do not seem to like it. On live TV, he said:

“Whoever said don’t give the puck to Lyubushkin
Can fermer Lyubushkin”

Alright, we get the cute French play on word, Ron, but fans appear to have had just about enough of them. One of them even wondering how much it would take for fellow panelist and former NHL player Kevin Bieska to jump across the table and “fermer Lyubushkin” of MacLean.

Tough crowd. I have to admit I laughed... 

Fans love to hate him - and his cringy play on words…
