Robin Lehner posts terrifying messages on Friday night.
Robin Lehner has published a lengthy rant on social media that sounds very dark indeed.
Veteran National Hockey League goaltender Robin Lehner sounds like he is in desperate need of help and I sincerely hope that someone can get that help to him before something terrible transpires.
On Friday night, the longtime NHL goalie took to social media to get a great many things off of his chest. If I'm being perfectly honest it doesn't sound like Lehner is in a sound frame of mind as he is writing these things and it is quite difficult to get a grasp on exactly what point he is trying to make as he rambles and points the finger of blame in all kinds of different directions during his rant.
In his first message Lehner, who has a history of mental illness, began by saying that his brain is "fully broken" before going on a long rant that concluded with him saying that the name Lehner, his name, should be erased because it is "evil." It was a very disturbing message which you can read below.
The beginning of Lehner's second message claims the account has been hacked, perhaps believing that this will spare him from any legal repercussions that may result from him publishing such a message.
During the second part of his rant Lehner points the finger of blame at both the NHL and NHLPA over their measures surrounding the Covid vaccine, while also complaining of his financial situation as a result of loans.
Lehner also mentions being placed in a suicide ward during the second message.
Again I don't want to read too much into this as Lehner does not appear to be in his right frame of mind during these messages.
While the NHL and NHLPA are named as culprits in the second message, Lehner points the finger of blame at his father during the third part of his rant. Lehner blames his father for destroying his life while also thanking an unnamed man within the Islanders organization for helping him at a low point during his career.
In the fourth part of Lehner's rant he goes on an attack against the Las Vegas Golden Knights and specifically targets his ire at a man he calls "Pete" who I can only assume is former Golden Knights head coach Peter DeBoer. Lehner spoke positively of both NHL player agent Alan Walsh and Kelly McCrimmon who served as Golden Knights general manager at the time while describing a whole host of issues.
The most concerning part of the message from Lehner however comes in the fifth and what appears to be final installment of his rant on social media, one that reads like a message with a very dark finality to it.
I can only pray that this is a cry for help and that Lehner will not do anything that he can't take back, and perhaps more importantly I hope that those with the power to reach out to him and help him in his time of need can do so before it's too late.
