Reporter doubles down after fiery response from Brad Marchand.

Is the captain of the Boston Bruins a liar? This reporter certainly appears to imply it.

Is the captain of the Boston Bruins a liar? Well one reporter certainly seems to be implying as much.

There was some serious controversy in the city of Boston last week when a report came out indicating that Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand and Bruns star forward David Pastrnak were no longer on the same page. In fact there had grown to be such a rift between the two men that Pastrnak was refusing to play on a line with Marchand moving forward resulting in the two players being split up.

That report came from WEEI's Rich Keefe and it raised a ton of eyebrows because of Keefe's history when it comes to reporting on the Bruins. Keefe was the first to report the news of Jim Montgomery's firing earlier this season, with Keefe reporting it long before anyone else, and in fact Keefe even correctly reported that Joe Sacco would take over as interim head coach which of course he did do.

Over the weekend however Marchand would call out Keefe, even going so far as to quite clearly call for Keefe to lose his job over the comments he made on the radio.

Now however Keefe himself has had the chance to respond to the controversy he stirred up last week and, instead of issuing any type of apology or anything of the sort, Keefe simply responded by doubling down on Monday.

"Stand by it, stand by it," said Keefe on Monday.

Keefe was accused of making the comments for the sake of garnering some attention for himself and his radio program, an accusation that he ridiculed on Monday.

"Ask yourself this question, in this scenario who is more likely to be lying? Me or him?" asked Keefe. "With all due respect to the Bruins if I just wanted clicks and I just wanted attention wouldn't I make up Patriots stories? Or NFL Stories? Something along those lines."

Keefe stated flatly that he stood by his comments and that they were in fact truthful.

"I'm not lying," stated Keefe flatly. "I'm not making it up."

You can hear a short clip of the segment in which Keefe addresses the comments from Marchand just below:
