According to a report from TSN NHL insider Darren Dreger, veteran defenseman John Klingberg is set to resume his NHL career after serious hip resurfacing surgery that he underwent back in 2023.

Furthermore, Dreger reports that "5-7" teams are in the mix to sign Klingberg inlcuding the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks.

The 32 year old hasn't played since November, 2023 when he was with the Leafs. In fact, he's played only 31 NHL games in the past two and a half years. I can't imagine that he'll now regain the form he showed early in his career with the Dallas Stars when he was putting up 40+ points, 50+ points and even 60+ points seasons.

Still, he's an intriguing talent and I'm sure he could be signed for pennies on the dollar.

My gut tells me that he'll return to the Leafs since he has unfinished business with the team but... then again... money talks. Stay tuned.
