Perhaps a deal could go down after all.

The Vancouver Canucks are in a major period of transition, having already traded away captain Bo Horvat in a blockbuster deal with the New York Islanders earlier in the week. Of course, this comes on the heels of the unbelievably horrible public relations nightmare that followed their firing of former head coach Bruce Boudreau.

Don't be surprised to see them attempt to sell off more assets as the NHL Trade Deadline approaches. And one team that could come calling for one particular member of the blue line happens to the the Toronto Maple Leafs, who may have to get used to life without veteran Jake Muzzin (neck injury).

According to The Fourth Period, the Leafs and Canucks have had discussions involving towering defenseman Tyler Myers:

"Sounds like the Toronto Maple Leafs have some interest in Tyler Myers from the Canucks. We’ll see where it goes but the two sides have talked this week. @TheFourthPeriod mentioned on @NHLNetwork earlier today."

He's in the midst of a five year, $30 million deal signed with the Canucks in the summer of 2019. In 49 games played this season, he's scored one goal to go with nine assists and a -7 plus minus rating. Originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres with the 12th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, Myers has skated in 889 career games with the Sabres, Winnipeg Jets and Canucks, having scored a total of 88 goals and 247 assists.
