Report: Brad Treliving confronted Leafs players over lack of toughness!

Well, you know it's bad when your general manager pays the players an unannounced visit after a loss.

By now, you have likely seen the replay of the controversial incident involving the Bruins' captain, Brad Marchand, and his uncalled infraction on the Leafs' defenseman, Timothy Liljegren, which unfortunately led to Liljegren suffering a high ankle sprain. Surprisingly, no Leafs player intervened to defend their injured teammate, except for a few choice words directed at Marchand from the bench.

There was also the matter of Tyler Bertuzzi sitting on the bench with a sheepish grin on his face as he watched his former teammate, but that's a different story.

Regardless, the lack of physical response from the Leafs not only didn't sit well with the fan base, but also understandably rubbed general manager Brad Treliving the wrong way.

According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman on his latest "32 Thoughts" podcast, Treliving held a meeting with the team shortly afterward and addressed their Charmin-soft reaction to Marchand injuring their teammate.

"They had a team meeting and the players spoke, Keefe spoke, Brad Treliving the GM I understand spoke and what they talked about was, its instinctive for championship teams," Friedman revealed

"I heard one of the things that was said in there, nobody will confirm it, but I heard one of the things that was said was 'other teams know that they can push us around.' That is one thing I agree with, in the NHL, those teams they do not win."

Do the Leafs have a problem that needs to be addressed with the acquisition of additional toughness?
