Report: Blackhawks potentially bringing in Chiarelli as new GM
Just when you think things can't get any worse in Chicago...

According to NHL insider Darren Dreger, the Chicago Blackhawks are bringing in former Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli to interview for their vacant GM position.
From Dreger:
"Sources indicate that Peter Chiarelli... has been contacted by the Chicago Blackhawks and will interview for their hockey operations vacancy... this could move very quickly. The interviewing process expected to begin this weekend."

Suffice it to say that if I'm a Blackhawks fan this news has me quaking in my boots. Sure, Chiarelli has a Stanley Cup championship under his belt, but to be perfectly honest the Bruins won that Cup in spite of his awful management. For further proof look no further than the disastrous run he had as GM of the Edmonton Oilers.
Chiarelli is currently in an executive role with the St. Louis Blues and, to be perfectly frank, I can't ever see him as GM of an NHL team ever again. I think this may be more a case of Chiarelli calling in a favor to his old buddy Darren Dreger in the hopes of getting some heat around his name heading into the back half of the season, so that he may get himself a new job come the offseason. I'm not reporting this as fact, of course, but that's the sense that I get from having seen Dreger and ONLY Dreger prop up Chiarelli time and time again whenever there's a vacant GM job in the NHL.
