On the same day that it was announced that Detroit Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri would not be suiting up for the remainder of the 2022-23 regular season, it appears as though that may be the case for another key member of the team.

According to head coach Derek Lalonde, they're still awaiting official word, but there's a chance that his season could be finished.

“He’s probably in a week-long evaluation with what he’s dealing with, getting a couple different opinions on it,” Lalonde said. “Still a couple days out before we know fully where he’s at.”

“Probably 3-4 days ago I would have said no, but I don’t know," Lalonde continued when asked if Husso was going to be shut down for the remainder of the year. "He’s actually feeling better, but I think he’s going through the proper process and it’s going to take a few days because he’s getting a couple different opinions.”

Is Lalonde thinking of just pulling the plug on Husso with only 10 regular season games remaining on Detroit's schedule?

“Possibly,” Lalonde said. “But we’ll leave it up to the professionals the next 3-4 days.”

In the meantime, the Red Wings appear ready to move forward with the tandem of Alex Nedeljkovic and Magnus Hellberg for the remainder of the schedule.

Currently in his first year with the Red Wings since being acquired from the St. Louis Blues this past summer, Husso has been a workhorse for Detroit, having already started in a career high 51 games. He's posted a record of 25-19-6 with a 3.02 goals against average and .899 save percentage and three shutouts.
