It's an exciting time for Motor City sports fans, as this past season saw the Detroit Lions come within two quarters of advancing to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history on the heels of two thrilling playoff victories at Ford Field.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings provided their fans with several memorable moments that had Little Caesars Arena rocking. While they would ultimately fall just short of ending their playoff drought, they're gunning to end that streak next spring and bring postseason hockey back to Hockeytown.

The Lions continue practicing in preparation for the regular season, having already gotten their first exhibition game against the New York Giants out of the way. And during practice this weekend, several native Michiganders on the Red Wings made a special appearance in Allen Park with some special deliveries.

Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat, Andrew Copp and Jeff Petry were on hand to present several personalized Red Wings sweaters to Lions players that included Jared Goff, Dan Campbell, Jack Fox and Alex Anzalone.

Not only did Goff receive his own personalized No. 16 sweater, but Larkin also handed him a No. 16 Vladimir Konstantinov jersey, the last Red Wings player to wear the number; his career came to a tragic end a week after the 1997 Stanley Cup victory when he was nearly killed in a limousine accident.

“People are excited about football being back and how the (Lions) did last year, the expectations they have, and just talking to a few of the guys on the field,” Larkin told reporters. “It’s a good thing to have, and it’s good that the Lions have that. (The Red Wings) haven’t had much of that, but being out here makes me want to get back to work a little bit. It’s getting to that time.”

“We had multiple games last year where the Lions played before us at home, and many fans attended both games,” Larkin said. “They brought energy to our building, and you could feel it. We saw what the Lions were able to do, and it motivated us in a really good way.”
