Red Wings and Oilers both make changes ahead of game on Sunday.
The Detroit Red Wings and the Edmonton Oilers will both have a slightly different look on Sunday.
The Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings will face one another on Sunday evening and both teams are making some relatively minor adjustments ahead of that contest.
Perhaps the biggest changes will come on the Red Wings side of the equation with head coach Derek Lalonde making a pair of changes to his blue line ahead of this one. Both defensemen Erik Gustafsson and Justin Holl will be healthy scratches tonight and, with them coming out of the lineup, Red Wings defensemen Olli Maatta and Albert Johansson will step in to replace them this evening.
Veteran goaltender Cam Talbot gets the start for the Red Wings tonight with Alex Lyon having played yesterday against the Buffalo Sabres.
Here is the full Red Wings lineup for tonight:
DeBrincat-Larkin-Raymond
Veleno-Compher-Kane
Tarasenko-Kasper-Berggren
Rasmussen-Copp-Fischer
Ecvinsson-Seider
Chiarot-Petry
Johansson-Maatta
The Oilers are coming off of a big win over the Pittsburgh Penguins and as a result it comes as little surprise to see head coach Kris Knoblauch sticking with the same formula that earned him a 4-0 victory over Sidney Crosby and co.
The one notable change to the Oilers lineup will be goaltender Calvin Pickard getting the start this evening, which makes sense given that this is the first of two back to back games for the Oilers.
Here is a look at the full Oilers lineup for tonight:
RNH-McDavid-Hyman
Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Arvidsson
J. Skinner-Henrique-Brown
Janmark-Ryan-Perry
Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Stecher
Kulak-Emberson
Pickard
S. Skinner
Both teams are currently near the bottom of their respective divisions and in need of every win they can get if they are to fight their way back into playoff contention, so I expect that tonight's game will be a hotly contested affair between these two squads.
