Reason exposed on why Sidney Crosby hasn’t signed with Penguins yet!

Concern has grown over the captain still being unsigned in Pittsburgh, but…

Sidney Crosby enters the last year of a 12-year deal he inked back in 2012 and fans simply want the confirmation that the Penguins captain will stay put in Pittsburgh and possibly lead the team to another championship before he hangs up the skates.

But still no sign of a deal this summer.

While former teammate and now TV analyst Mike Rupp claims no one should worry about Crosby still being unsigned and anticipates the superstar captain will finish his career as a Penguin, there have been some concerns following Crosby’s agent Pat Brisson’s comments on Draft Day at the end of June. He explained how he would take the time to speak with his client about the vision for the coming years in Pittsburgh and to see if the captain likes the look of the future with the team that selected first overall in 2005 before putting ink to paper.

As for his next deal, some reports have indicated that Crosby could accept a massive discount to give the Penguins the best chance to succeed, like we’ve seen both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci do in the past with the Boston Bruins.

It was reported earlier this month by The Athletic’s Rob Rossi that Crosby and the Penguins were closing in on an extension, which could end up being a three-year deal worth an average annual value of $10 million. There is a speculation on why it hasn’t been announced yet and that comes from Lyle Richardson, who believes, with Crosby being a superstitious freak, he is waiting to sign on August 7, on his birthday and his jersey number (87).

It could be that the details have already been hammered out and now Crosby is just waiting for his special day to feel good about making it official.
