Rangers’ Matt Rempe gets humiliated by fan in Washington!

There was a heavyweight fight, a Rangers’ loss and this:

Chris Gosselin

After a brief absence, Rangers forward Matt Rempe was back in New York after he was recalled from the AHL’s Hartford Wolfpack ahead of last night’s contest against the Capitals in Washington.

In the first period, Rempe was back to his former self when he dropped the gloves with Dylan McIlrath in a heavyweight fight, though he was roughed up and sent to the ice by the latter who clearly won the tilt. Both players landed rights and a couple of jabs but McIlrath came out on top with the takedown and McIlrath let out a huge roar as he flexed after the fight.

Rempe was bloodied in the bout and had to leave to get some repairs. However what a fan did towards the end of the game probably hurt more than the few scratches he got from the fight.

At one point in the night, one fan in Washington took part in the top shot challenge on the jumbotron and made sure to call out and embarrass Rempe at the time, saying:

“Matt Rempe can’t skate.”

The fan clearly wanted more than just winning the top shot challenge, he also wanted to take a shot at Rempe!

And poor Rempe : to make things worse after his fight with McIlrath, Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin scored 46 seconds after the bout and gave his team the 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

Rempe has no points in 3 games played this season in the NHL.
