Rangers linked to blockbuster trade with Senators.
The New York Rangers are making major headlines on Friday in more ways than one.
The New York Rangers are making headlines on Friday with the team making it abundantly clear today that they will be moving on from captain Jacob Trouba by any means necessary.
The chaos regarding the developments around Trouba however is now spilling out from the Rangers organization and impacting other teams with a shocking report coming from Rangers insider Larry Brooks. Brooks reported on Friday that the Rangers are looking to acquire Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk in what would be a blockbuster trade.
"Blueshirts targeting Brady Tkachuk in trade talks in what would be a whopper," wrote Brooks on X.
Does that mean we could see one team's captain being traded for another? I suspect the Ottawa Senators would demand quite a bit more than merely Jacob Trouba in exchange for the services of Brady Tkachuk, but some insiders are already pouring cold water on the report from Brooks.
Ottawa Senators insider Bruce Garrioch has come out and completely denied the report flatly stating that, not only is the rumor of Tkachuk to New York entirely untrue, the Senators are not in contact with anyone about trading their captain.
"Nothing to Brady Tkachuk to the Rangers or anywhere else for that matter," wrote Garrioch.
National Hockey League insider Darren Dreger appeared to echo the thoughts from Garrioch, indicating that there were no talks of any kind between the Rangers and Trouba. Dreger did however reveal the names of 3 teams he does believe are talking to the Rangers about possibly acquiring Jacob Trouba.
"CBJ, Det and Anaheim among the crop of teams circling around Trouba and the NYR," wrote Dreger. "Complicated. Nothing going on between the Rangers and Ottawa Senators. Zilch."
Stay tuned for more details regarding this incredibly chaotic and messy situation unfolding before our very eyes today.
