If you were expecting another trade on the level of Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes you're going to be a little disappointed.

On Saturday morning, the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning followed up one of the biggest trades in modern National Hockey League history with a deal that couldn't be anything further removed from that, a 1 for 1 deal that involves a combined total of 0 games of NHL experience. In an official announcement, the Rangers and Lightning have confirmed that they are swapping forwards with the Rangers acquiring forward Lucas Edmonds from the Lightning in exchange for forward Ryder Korczak.

Both men are former third round picks and as I mentioned neither man has any NHL experience as of yet.

Edmonds, selected in the third round (86th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Lightning, has spent his last three seasons playing for the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch and this season he has 1 goal and 4 assists for a total of 5 points in 26 games with that team.

Korczak, selected in the third round (75th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, has spent his last two seasons in the AHL as well as a member of the Hartford Wold Pack. In 35 AHL games this season Korczak has 3 goals and 8 assists for a total of 11 points.

This one is definitely going to go down with a whimper after the truly monstrous trade we saw in the NHL on Friday, and it remains to be seen if either player involved in this deal will have any impact on these teams at the NHL level.
