Proposed trade pitch to get Jakub Vrana out of Detroit!
His uncertain future with the Red Wings could lead to this move:

The whole situation surrounding forward Jakub Vrana and the Detroit Red Wings has been mind-boggling… It raised eyebrows when the team placed Vrana on waivers last week as the winger was already with their AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids on a two-week conditioning stint.
He ended up clearing waivers, and staying in Grand Rapids, but his future with the Wings remains uncertain.
This prompted Frank Seravalli and Steven Ellis to discuss whether Vrana still fits into the Wings’ long-term plans and even got the insider to propose a trade that could work and be accepted by Detroit.
Seravalli wondered if a rival team pitches a trade offer that involves the Wings retaining what would be the equivalent cost of buying out his final season ($1.9 million) in exchange for a decent return.
This comes as the insider points out how surprised he was that a player like Vrana was not picked off waivers, pointing out that he sits among the league leaders in goals per 60 minutes.
However, it all comes back to money. According to Cap Friendly, Vrana carries a $5.25-million cap hit through 2023-24. Money is tight across the league with all but seven of the 32 clubs have $3.5 million or less in cap space this season.
That’s why Seravalli believes his proposed trade pitch could work for the Red Wings and any rival team looking to boost up front ahead of the postseason. However, a deal like this one might only take place during the offseason seeing that we have yet to see him perform at his level this season. After he was sidelined for most of 2021-22 with a shoulder injury and only played two games this season before entering the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, rejoining the Wings on Dec. 16.
