Predators provide an update on Mark Borowiecki.

An official update on the injured NHL veteran.

We have some good news to report on the status of injured National Hockey League veteran Mark Borowiecki.

The Nashville Predators have announced that Borowiecki has been discharged from hospital after suffering what looked like a significant injury on Saturday night. According to the official update from the Preds, Borowiecki has avoided any major injuries and is back home resting and recuperating from the scary incident last night. The Preds have also announced that Borowiecki will be out for an undetermined length of time, subject to further observation, testing, and rest so it sounds like Borowiecki could be sidelined for a little while.

This may not sound like great news but when you consider just how bad the situation at Bridgestone Arena looked in real time, it seems like Borowiecki may have been very lucky here. The Predators defenseman appeared to lose consciousness almost immediately after taking a hit from Philadelphia Flyers forward Morgan Frost and would remain down on the ice, unmoving, for several long moments.

Here's a look at the replay of the hit that dropped Borowiecki:

Although the hit itself did not appear to be particularly forceful, it was painfully obvious that Borowiecki was not faking or embellishing the situation. The tough NHL veteran stayed down for an extended length of time and it was very hard to watch him being carted off the ice on a stretcher, seemingly unable to leave under his own power.

The update from the Predators is great news when considering just how dire things looked last night, and I hope Borowiecki is able to make both a full and speedy recovery.
