Pierre-Luc-Dubois drops a hot take on Mullet Arena.

Pierre-Luc Dubois loves something about Mullet Arena.

The Arizona Coyotes new arena has been something of a meme this season with many being critical of an NHL team playing in such a small building, especially considering that essential facilities like an NHL quality locker room have yet to be completed, but it hasn't all been negative.

After their first home game of the season the Coyotes received some mild praise from fans for the quality of the atmosphere in the building, one that definitely felt more vibrant than what we had come to expect of Coyotes home games in recent years. It would seem that there were other positives to the smaller arena as well, one that was pointed out by Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre Luc Dubois.

According to a report from ESPN's Leah Hextall, Dubois dropped a hot take during her interview with him following the first Coyotes home game of the season. Dubois told her that the ice at the Mullet Arena might just be  the best quality ice in the entire National Hockey League,

While you may be left scratching your head wondering how an ice rink in the desert could have the best possible ice, I suspect that it has a great deal to do with the fact that there are a lot less people in the building during the game. It's true that arenas in the NHL are kept nice and cool, when you suddenly pack 15,000+ people into one of those arenas, plus staff, plus security, all of a sudden that is a lot of additional heat being pumped through the building and by extension onto the playing surface.

If this becomes a trend we might actually end up in a scenario where players in the NHL enjoy the prospect of playing at Mullet Arena,  but only time will tell.
