It may still be the preseason, the NHL Safety department is keeping a close eye on the action. On Wednesday, it announced that Los Angeles Kings’ Arthur Kaliyev will have a hearing today for Kneeing Anaheim Ducks’ Chase De Leo during last night’s exhibition contest.
Kaliyev could be the first suspension of the 2023-24 NHL if his ban exceeds the two games that are left to the Kings’ preseason calendar.
Kaliyev is however not consider a repetitive offender. He was fined last in April 2022, when he avoided suspension for cross-checked Ducks defenseman Josh Mahura.
Will he manage to avoid suspension again this time around?
