Paul Bissonnette apologizes to Mitch Marner with bold statement that stun Leafs fans!

After being quite hard on Marner, this is what Biz had to say to the Maple Leafs’ forward:

Chris Gosselin

Forward Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is facing a tough year ahead in Toronto this season as he’s entering the final year of a six-year, $65.41 million contract and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2024-25 campaign. Many insiders, pundits and fans believe this is a make or break year for Marner, who had a strong regular season last year, posting 85 points in 69 games, but he will need to improve in the playoffs, especially if a contract extension in Toronto hangs in the balance.

One man that has been tough on Marner has been former NHLer and co-host of the Spittin Chiclets podcast Paul Bissonnette.

And on Tuesday, Biz made sure to make his apology to Marner and his father public, adding he believes the Leafs’ winger could be the winner of the Selke Trophy, awarded to the forward who demonstrates the most skill in the defensive component of the game.

As of now, both sides seem fine with letting the coming season unfold as Marner could have to prove his worth this season, especially prior to the trade deadline if he wants to get that big money extension. Marner could have a future in Toronto, but the Maple Leafs will need to figure out money while the winger will need to be way better during the postseason.

However, Bissonnette is more than hopeful that Marner will be an astounding player this season, making this bold statement:

“I think that there’s a possibility that Mitch Marner can lead the league in scoring… I think he might win the Art Ross Trophy this year.”

The Art Ross trophy is awarded to the NHL player who leads the league in points at the end of the regular season, and Biz believes Marner could be that guy in 2024-25.

Marner has found himself the subject of swirling trade rumors following yet another subpar postseason performance and was then heavily criticized by Bissonnette and other pundits. Clearly, Biz felt the need to apology and put his trust in Marner this season in Toronto.

With 85 points in 69 games played in 2023-24, Marner produced at over a point-per-game pace for the Leafs for the sixth consecutive season. Let’s see if Bissonnette is right to offer this apology along with these even bolder predictions.
