Patrick Roy has a new rule for the Islanders

The New York Islanders have stumbled a bit under new head coach Patrick Roy.

Sure, they won their first game under Roy in dramatic fashion, but since then they've dropped two straight and... frankly... they haven't looked much improved from their former version.

It'll be on Roy to right the ship in Long Island and get this team back into the playoff race following the NHL's All Star Break. And it appears that he's not wasting any time in his efforts to turn things around. There were reports out of Long Island this week that Roy was running some particularly brutal practices and that he's trying to whip his team into better physical shape. Interestingly enough, he instituted a new rule at team practices, dictating that players can never leave the ice individually. They enter the ice and they exit the ice as a team always, regardless of practice or games.

Honestly... 

I kind of love this.

It's a simple tactic from Roy to bring his team together and to have them really see themselves as a unified front. For a team like the Islanders, a team without any clear cut superstars and a team who plays a tight structure, I could see this tactic really working out.

If nothing else, it shows that Roy is serious about giving his team a mental check.
