Free agent Patrick Kane is likely to wait until he makes the decision to sign with an NHL team for the 2023-24 season. He is currently recovering from offseason hip surgery and was given a four-to-six-month recovery timeline.
While Kane is waiting to be back and healthy to make the call, it hasn’t reportedly stopped him from dreaming about his next destination. According to House of Hockey, Kane is targeting a return home to Buffalo to play with the Sabres, led by Tage Thompson and some young stars.
The Sabres have the room to take on Kane and could get some much-needed experience and knowledge out of the veteran star forward.
His agent Pat Brisson mentioned how some teams have contacted him about his client. Kane will turn 35 in November, but still managed to record 21 goals and 36 assists across 73 games between the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers last season.
While it has been reported that Kane’s recovery is going well and even ahead of schedule, it remains to be seen if he will put on a Sabres’ jersey, or another team, for the 2023-24 season.
