Panthers’ Paul Maurice was right about Brad Marchand: latest update

More details here:

During his post-game press conference after Game 5 in the second round series against the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice had some eyebrow-raising comments on his players and their opponents.

Maurice cracked a few jokes when asked about his pep talk in the second period, when he was seen laying it into his players as they were trailing 1-0 in the game and were being heavily outshot by Boston.

“I don’t know the exact words of the message,” Maurice explained. “I wasn’t mad at them, I understand what they’re going through. I just thought they needed some profanity in their life — and I brought some. I don’t excel at a lot of things in my life, but f— me, am I good at that.”

Then, when asked about Game 6, Maurice gave an odd take on the Bruins and what their morning skate and practice ahead would look like. The head coach said:

“It’s gonna be an absolute barnburner in there. There’ll be 18,000 cameras on the morning skate just to see how many sips of water bottle Brad Marchand takes. There’s going to be some high-end investigative journalism.”

Maurice was right about that on Wednesday as reporters quickly asked head coach Paul Maurice what was the status on Brad Marchand. The Bruins’ coach could only say Marchand is still day-to-day and that we will know more tomorrow when it comes to his status for Game 6.

The captain has been missing for the past two contests after receiving a sucker punch from Panthers forward Sam Bennett in Game 3. The scary word “concussion” has been thrown around, though for now, it is called an upper-body injury.

The Bruins can only keep going without Marchand for now, as another update is likely to come ahead of Friday night for Game 6 in Boston.
