Oliver Wahlstrom manhandles Tony DeAngelo.

DeAngelo bites off more than he can chew.

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo has earned a bit of a reputation in the National Hockey League for being something of a hot head, and on Saturday night the veteran defenseman let his emotions get the better of him.

In the closing minutes of the Saturday night game contested between the Flyers and the New York Islanders, all hell broke loose between the two squads after the Flyers took exception to a hit from Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov late in the game. To be honest the hit from Romanov didn't seem to be particularly egregious, but it resulted in an all out melee between the two teams.

It would be during that melee that DeAngelo would seek out an opponent, one that he found in the form of Islanders winger Oliver Wahlstrom. Unfortunately for DeAngelo he may have bit off more than he could chew in the form of Wahlstrom who not only showed some toughness after eating some early shots, but also showed an ability to deliver some offense of his own.

By the time the exchange had come to an end Wahlstrom was absolutely manhandling DeAngelo, even punching him while he was down on the ice, before the NHL's officials finally stepped in and rescued the Flyers blue liner.
